About the 3-d Collages:

Randi Parkhurst's 3-d Collages are just 4 1/4"x 4 1/4" (10" x 10" with frame). Based on the theme "Clothesline" they are all a play on the word "line". Tiny paper clothes, birds, balloons and more actually hang or are attached to a wire clothesline with paper "clothes pins". Each garment, bird, etc. is first drawn on paper, than cut out of sturdy paper by hand and collaged with colorful papers. Somethimes paper pockets and buttons are added to shorts or cuffs are added to socks. Imported and handmade papers are layered in the backgrounds, making swirls in the sky and realistic grass or snow on the ground. There's alot of attention to detail and more than 20 hours of work goes into each one.
