This is the latest creation by Randi Parkhurst, Tansu Gothic.  It measures 15″ W x 25″ T x 6″ D.  It is made with over 300 handmade hardware pieces and over 800 metal brads.  This structure was made with paper, hand painted by the artist. It took 8 months to draw, make models and finish this structure. It consists of 6 boxes, 11 drawers and 2 piano hinged doors. Japanese tansu cabinetry is the influence for this piece. Inside the compartments, drawers and boxes are handmade books containing historical facts, drawings and stories about tansu cabinetry.
